Apple Sends Invites For October 27th Event: “Hello Again”

It was just September 7th when Apple last took the stage, and now they’re preparing for their next event. Today, Apple sent out invites for an event on October 27th with the tagline, “Hello Again”. This event is expected to focus on the Mac with a number of Mac lines having become stale. The star is set to be the Retina MacBook Pro with the first external design change since 2012.

The Retina MacBook Pro will likely feature a new OLED touch panel to replace the function key row of the keyboard. The touch panel will include a TouchID sensor, as well as context sensitive buttons that change based on the app in use. The 13″ and 15″ sizes will continue, but Apple will push USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports as the only connectors. Apple will also likely include Intel’s Skylake processors. Beyond the Retina MacBook Pro, the 13″ MacBook Air could get a minor update to USB-C, but it’s unlikely to change beyond that. A new iMac has been rumored, as well as a 5K Thunderbolt display, but it’s unclear if they’re planned for this event. The Mac Pro was last updated in 2013, while the Mac mini was last updated in 2014, but again new editions may not come for this event. Apple could also present a 4K Apple TV, new iPod touches, and more of an iPad change than the storage configuration updates of the September 7th event.

It’s worth noting that Apple originally planned their financial earnings call for October 27th, but moved it to the 25th. There was speculation that an event might fit on the 27th, and now we know for sure. Join us on October 27th at 10AM pacific.
