Apps For Free Daily: Six Great Games For Free

A lot of developers must be in the holiday spirit. Today’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch apps for free daily include six top notch games with an arcade football game, Captain America platformer, Thor adventure, turn based strategy game, golfing sim, and deluxe platformer. A number of apps drop from paid to free on a daily basis, and we pick the top four everyday, as many of the others aren’t worth your time even for free. Everyday we try to pick apps that are worth spending money on, but are now free to download, and here they are.

nfl_flick_qbNFL Flick Quarterback ($0.99 -> Free, iPhone) [Review]: An arcade football game that focuses on passing, and comes from the makers of Flick Golf and Flick Soccer. You play as the QB, and you flick the ball over the field trying to connect with your one wide receiver. The goal is to flick the ball out ahead of the receiver so he can catch it in stride, and you can flick the screen while the ball is in the air to make it an even better pass. There are two additional trick modes as well.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: Sentinel of LibertyCaptain America: Sentinel of Liberty ($2.99 -> Free, Universal): You play as Captain America in an action packed platformer that is set-up similar to Mirror’s Edge. Cap runs automatically, and you perform various swipe gestures to jump, dodge, and perform attacks across 24 deluxe levels.

THOR: Son of AsgardThor: Son of Asgard ($2.99 -> Free, Universal) [Review]: A 3D action adventure game that is sold under the Marvel name, but looks like many Gameloft games. As a matter of fact, Thor: Son of Asgard is comparable to Hero of Sparta II or Spider-Man: Total Mayhem. The game design looks familiar, and the game plays similar as well. There’s nothing new or creative to see except for the Thor visuals and storyline.

SquidsSquids $1.99 -> Free, Universal): An undersea adventure that combines turn based strategy and RPG for a completely unique experience. You fling squids to deal damage with alternating turns against enemies, and then use your winnings to upgrade your skills and personality.

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 12 for iPadTiger Woods PGA TOUR® 12 ($4.99 -> Free): This is EA’s first foray in dropping a paid app to free for a limited time, and they have started off with a bang. The app is the current year’s version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour, and is one of EA’s best sports games for iOS. The game provides authentic gameplay with iOS specific controls, and multiple realistic courses and events to play.
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 12 for iPad ($6.99 -> Free): The iPad version.

wimpWimp: Who Stole My Pants ($0.99 -> Free, Universal) [Review]: A platformer that uses a green blob to create brand new platforming mechanics. As you advance through 50 levels, you can stick to surfaces, explode for double jumps, use in-air controls, and more that are unlocked as you go. The levels have nice puzzle elements as you need to flip switches, move boxes, dodge or push enemies, avoid toxic sludge, move shifting platforms, and tons more. Wimp combines the classic platformer elements with brand new mechanics based on your slime ball form.
