iOS 5 Allows For Multiple App Downloads Simultaneously – Including Over 3G

We installed iOS 5 on a couple of our iOS devices, and have been combing through it to find all the new features. Today, we stumbled upon an interesting new feature that allows you to download new apps simultaneously. Now, when you download new apps from the App Store, there is no longer any apps waiting. When you download apps in iTunes on your computer, the program allows for simultaneous downloads, and now that functionality is going to be extended to iOS 5.

With iOS 5, when downloading a navigation app, big game, or other huge app file, you can still download a few smaller apps, or some updates all at the same time. You can start using the app that loads the fastest, rather than having to wait in order. It’s a small, but useful feature which helps for buying new apps, but more importantly re-downloading previously purchased apps.

Also the simultaneous downloads feature works over 3G as well as WiFi. The 20 MB cellular limit is still in place, but you can download multiple under 20 MB apps. View the screenshots below to see the feature in action.
