The life of a secret agent includes many challenges, and now there’s a new game that focuses those spy challenges into puzzles. Agent A: A puzzle in disguise is a new iOS puzzle adventure game in which you play as Agent A, who is tasked with tracking down enemy spy Ruby La Gouge. The game is set in Ruby’s secret lair, which is composed of 15 rooms to explore with everything offering a Sixties art style, but with modern amenities. The game presents the classic point and click adventure style infused with a great theme that is applied to every aspect of the experience.

Agent A is all about exploring each room of the secret lair to find anything that could potentially help later on. The highlight of the game is that there’s a constant flow to every interaction, so that you’re always piecing things together. There’s a string to grab on to that leads through the entire game as you find an item in the bedroom that fits into a lock in the lounge that then ties into the bathroom. There’s a great gameplay design that leads you to finding an item, and then having that item trigger another area of the house that you previously perused. The game isn’t easy, but there is a logical flow to the puzzles that allows for everything to be solved with less frustration than appears in other games in which the connection between clues and puzzles can be minimal.

The gameplay of Agent A will keep you compelled from start to finish, and you will be so immersed in the adventure that the game will seem to go by quickly. It is a bit disheartening to come to the “To Be Continued” conclusion, especially when you’re into the flow of the game, but now we have to wait on planned future updates. The game as it stands is well worth the purchase price, and the puzzles are great fun with a nice balance of intrigue and challenge. Agent A also features a smooth interface allowing you to tap on anything to interact with it, and then pinch to go out of rooms. There’s great movement throughout the secret lair, and there are so many potential items to interact with.

Agent A ($2.99, Universal) is an outstanding puzzle adventure that delivers a must have iOS experience.
