Baby monkey, Baby monkey, Riding on a pig, Baby monkey. That is the first set of lyrics for one of the catchiest tunes you will ever hear. Parry Gripp created a song to go with a Japanese YouTube video of a little monkey and pig who begin in a cage, and then are set free with the monkey riding around backwards on the pig. Now there is an iPhone game based on the song, and it’s officially licensed with the permission of Parry Gripp. This means that the Baby Monkey song plays on a loop while you’re playing the game.

If you’re unfamiliar with the song, then give it a listen in one of the videos below. Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig) is just hilarious with a great tune and high pitched vocals that will no doubt get stuck in your head. The Baby Monkey (going backwards on a pig) iOS game not only features the song, but an endless running and jumping game. The game might be worth it for the song alone, but surprisingly the gameplay outshines the amazing song. The pig runs automatically with the baby monkey riding backwards on it, and you tap buttons to the make the two characters jump. Unlike other games you have two different jump buttons with one corresponding to the monkey, and one to the pig.

As you’re running along the course, there are all kinds of bananas in the air, and you’re trying to collect them all. The game allows for a double jump as you can jump with the pig, and then jump with the monkey while in mid-air to reach the extra high bananas. There is a score multiplier for consecutively collected bananas until each one earns you 1,000 points. The game isn’t just collecting bananas as there are gaps and ledges to jump over as the pig. The monkey needs to jump over fences, cacti, and nom nom hamsters as the pig barrels through them all. There are so many objectives going on at once for what seems like a simple game at first.

The cartoon artwork is great as well from the pig blasting through everything to the monkey pulling on the pig’s tale to make it jump. Of course there’s the great soundtrack, but the gameplay really steals the show. The game does a great job of getting you to come back over and over, and you’ll enjoy it each and every time. Game Center is included for online high scores and achievements, and the only suggestion would be checkpoints. You clear farm, desert, and party areas, but you have to restart at the beginning without a chance to restart at the desert stage for instance.

Baby Monkey (going backwards on a pig) ($0.99, iPhone) will bring a smile to your face each and every time you play. The game has great art, music, and surprisingly engaging gameplay. The double jump mechanic with collectibles and multiple ways to lose is unique in the App Store, and tons of fun.

Baby Monkey (going backwards on a pig) is a must buy because everyone who gets their hands on it will absolutely love it. Now altogether, Baby monkey, Baby monkey, Backwards on a pig, Baby monkey…The world has gone insane.
