APP NAME: Crazy Escape
GENRE(S): Strategy, Puzzle
RELEASE DATE(S): October 20th, 2011
The path drawing genre has seen a noticeable arc from a huge rise with the popularity of Flight Control and Harbor Master, to falling back down to just another genre. It seems all games are some form of physics puzzle these days instead of path drawing, but every now and then a hidden gem is released. Crazy Escape is the newest entry into the path drawing genre, and is really unlike any previous attempts in the App Store. You play as Cutlet and Mishmash, who are two penguins driving a 4 x 4, and their mission is to save the sheep from wolves.
In each of the 90 levels you’re given a few entry and exit points, and you need to draw the road for the penguins to drive. Your goal is to draw the road through all the sheep and stars to collect everything while avoiding trees, wolves, and other obstacles. As you advance, you come across the wolf leader who runs along the road chasing the penguin car down. The wolf leader also has some sheep tied to him that you’ll need to go back for. In each level, you also try to use as little road as possible, and you can use the entry/exit points to limit the amount of road used.
Crazy Escape ($0.99, Universal) is definitely a hidden gem that adds new life to the path drawing genre. Each and every level is enjoyable and unique as you deal with multiple obstacles at once always trying to limit the amount of road used. There’s no one right solution, and you can change the entry and exit points for a whole new solution. The game also comes with a great theme and personality that is highlighted by the well down visuals.
Crazy Escape is a should buy that will have you love drawing each and every escape from the wolves clutches.
