Magical Weather – See The Conditions Beautifully

3.5 Overall Score
Usability: 3.5/5
Design: 4/5
Duration: 3/5

Beautifully designed animated scenes | Weekly and hourly forecasts | Accurate conditions

Not the most powerful weather app | More scenes would be nice, especially for sunny days

We always like to know the weather forecast, and there are a number of apps trying to fill the void of a weather app on the iPad. Magical Weather is the newest addition to the App Store, and it provides deluxe animated scenes to depict the current conditions. There are 16 scenes included based on sunny, partly cloudy, and rain to show you moving images of clouds, rain, or the night sky. The app not only provides the animated scenes for your current location, but you can add up eight other locations to track.

The app begins with a 3 x 3 grid with thumbnails of the weather conditions for all the cities you’re tracking. You can drag and drop to arrange the scenes, like app icons on the home screen, and when you tap on any one you’re taken to the animated scene. With the scene comes the current conditions including temperature, high and low, humidity, probability of rain, UV index, wind speed, atmospheric pressure, and change in temp since yesterday. You can glance at all of these in the bottom corner or flick the temperature up to revel the full seven day forecast of highs, lows, and expected conditions. You can also flick to the left to revel the hourly forecast, and it’s a really smooth interface to move between scenes, and find all the forecasts.

Magical Weather ($0.99, iPad) isn’t the most complex weather app in the App Store, and is more like Weather HD as compared to The Weather Channel. The design is exquisite, and each animated scene is so deluxe, through complete sunny is so subtle that it looks static. It’s a great way to visualize your weather, and simply make a daily check of the conditions, and weekly forecast. The app is very responsive, and the weather conditions are extremely accurate with so many different cities included for very precise reports.

Magical Weather is worth picking up, and simply provides the weather beautifully. The app doesn’t provide doppler radars, and more powerful weather features, but for many that’s overkill, when we just want to see the current conditions and forecast.
