All robots in an assembly line would seem to be the same. In Odd Bot Out, you get to play as the odd bot, who doesn’t reach the heights of the other robots, sending it into the recycle bin. It’s up to you to help odd bot out of the recycling area by facing a series of 100 puzzle platformer levels. You need to use blocks, electricity, physics, and other abandoned robots to help odd bot escape the trash heap.

Every level of Odd Bot Out provides a unique challenge to contend with, and the variety keeps you constantly engaged throughout all 100 levels. You will come across robotic centipedes, shuttles, elevator cars, and things you simply wouldn’t expect. Each new item comes with new interaction, and all of it revolves around touch. You swipe directly on odd bot to move it, and then drag and drop various pieces into position with different buttons to activate special items of new entities. It’s great to see a solution come together to unlock the path forward, and it’s always interesting to see how the pieces fit. The game also does a good job of combining thought provoking puzzles with some action sequences.

The one main drawback with Odd Bot Out is that it doesn’t have the most challenging puzzles. With that said, they will still keep you occupied and engaged, and the lack of time constraints lets you simply focus on the challenge at hand. It’s a relaxing, yet rewarding puzzle experience, especially since odd bot is such an endearing character that you want to help. Everything is presented with a minimalistic design that still delivers personality in the way odd bot’s single eye follows your movement as you interact with each level. There’s simply so much to enjoy that you will just keep stringing levels together to see what each new one holds.

Odd Bot Out ($1.99, Universal) delivers an endearing challenge that is so well put together, making it a must have iOS experience.
