RELEASE DATE(S): June 21st, 2011

Dr. Seuss books will always be classics, and they have been given new life on the iPad thanks to Oceanhouse Media. Their most recent Dr. Seuss digital translation is Oh, the Thinks You Can Think. The story is all about your imagination, and the interactive features of the app let you truly think. Rather than showing you the next image, the app gives you colored question marks on a blank environment. You can think of how the words would come to life and then tap the question marks to reveal the story illustrations.

It’s such a different Dr. Seuss experience to see the illustrations pop in one by one as you tap. There are also all kinds of interactive features allowing you to tap on any object on screen to hear it spoken aloud. The app also lets you tap on anything, and the word appears big on screen to allow kids to associate objects with written and spoken words. You can tap on any word in the text to hear it aloud, and practically everything you can tap on, and get some type of response. There are three ways to experience the story with read to me narration, read by myself, or auto play which progresses like a movie.

The app is perfect for kids and adults as well, that creates an interactive story that is best to be shared. You will want to read through it multiple times, and it’s Oceanhouse’s best effort to date with all the interaction. Dr. Seuss’ creative story of imagination comes to life on your iOS device, and truly allows you time to think. The app does a great job of combining an all text based book that relies solely on your imagination with a picture book allowing you to imagine first and then see the pictures later.

Oh, the Thinks You Can Think ($3.99, Universal) is how you turn a book into something more, and breathe new life into it. The app is worth picking up for $4, and even higher recommended if you have young kids around the house.
