An all new puzzle experience | Outstanding design | Plenty of engaging unlockables

Some themes are purchase only | May be a bit too challenging for some

It takes a lot to make something that is truly creative and unique in the App Store. Polymer is just that, and is unlike anything else in the App Store. It’s a puzzle game that’s all about sliding as you shift the board around to make the shapes known as polymers. There are various puzzle pieces, and your goal is to connect them together in as big of shapes as possible. The control mechanic is from Chuzzle as you drag the rows and columns, and there’s plenty of logic involved to think how the pieces can move and then connect.

The is one of the best puzzle games I’ve played as it introduces a brand new mechanic, but makes it easy for anyone to understand and enjoy. There are so many potential moves on the board, and this is one of the few games that really gets your brain humming. The challenge is completely in the puzzle since the control scheme is brilliant, and everything is designed so well. The puzzle piece design is bursting with color reminiscent of the seventies, and the soundtrack is an absolute treat.

There are three different game modes beginning with the fast paced two minute mode where time increases the challenge. There is also one polymer mode where you go for the biggest polymer in an un-timed mode. Finally there’s bomb mode where you need to make polymers to defuse the bombs, and the second two modes are unlockable based on points earned. There are also unlockable themes and pieces, and all of the unlockables give you tons of incentive to keep making polymers. The entire game is such a rewarding experience that is as engaging and enjoyable as puzzle games come.

Polymer ($0.99, iPhone) is a must buy that is one of the best puzzle experiences in and out of the App Store.
