Gorden Sumner has become one of the most well known musicians around using the single name, Sting. Sting 25 is a new iPad app that focuses on the past 25 years of Sting’s career after he separated from The Police. He is known for his humanitarian efforts as much as his music, and he has done a whole bunch equally over the past 25 years. The Sting 25 app is somewhat similar to the Jimi Hendrix Experience app, but Sting isn’t a full life biography, and it has much more direct pieces from Sting himself.

The app features a timeline of the past 25 years split up into the periods of time for each of his 10 albums over that stretch. None of the full songs are included, but you can listen to iTunes previews of every track, and there are a number of video performances included. There are hours of concert footage music videos, and exclusive interviews to really dive into Sting, and get his perspective on all of his efforts over the years. You can scroll sideways through the chapters, and scroll down to reveal the various sections in each chapter.

There’s also an exclusive all-star concert for Sting’s Sixtieth Birthday celebration with performances from Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, and more. The design is simply exquisite as each chapter has block sections artfully combined together, but each section is tappable to go into more depth for the particular topic. Whether you want to see more about The Rainforest Foundation, interviews about particular albums, or 360 degree views of his instruments, there are all separate sections for each one. Every chapter is bursting with photos and videos, and interface is designed extremely well to make all of that content very easily accessible.

Sting 25 (Free, iPad) is a definite stand out for the iPad, and it’s a great app to explore time and time again. Sting has done and accomplished so much, and there are many different ways to see all of it in this app. The only thing missing is access to full bio, or some Police action similar to the Jimi Hendrix app. The performance and interview videos are unmatched for any app no matter the subject manner, and you get it all for free.

Sting 25 is a great download that any iPad owner can fully enjoy whether you’re a fan of Sting or have never even heard of him.

Is this app going to be available for iPhone?

At this point, there’s no word on an iPhone version which means it’s unlikely. Sorry about that, as not everyone has an iPad.
