Twitter gains in popularity daily, but the official Twitter iOS app leaves something to be desired. There are a number of third party alternatives, and one from the beginning of the App Store is Twitterrific. The Twitter client has seen multiple versions over the years, and now it’s time for Twitterrific 5, which is really all about simplicity. Twitterrific is the Twitter client for someone simply wanting to read, and respond to tweets. The fifth variation reduces the clutter of various menus, and provides a very clean layout with just the Tweets.
The previous versions of Twitterrific have various side, and pop-up menus that simply make using Twitter a tedious experience. Twitterrific 5 fills the screen with just the tweets, and there’s a light and dark theme for that laser focus. The entire design is reminiscent of the Windows Metro UI, but Twitterrific 5 is more than just a facelift. There are tons of options as well available in a single menu to change the theme, font, size, and more to have your Twitter feed look exactly as you want. The font choices are worth commending as they really are easy to read, and fit the overall theme.
The interface is another redesigned highlight as there are brand new gestures. You can swipe right on a tweet to reply, or swipe left to bring up the full conversation of back and forth tweets. The top menu bar makes it easy to switch to messages or replies, but more importantly the app has a unified timeline for all of these specialties to be included, just color coded. It’s effortless to perform any Twitter related task in Twitterrific, and the entire app has been refined for much quicker loading times. There’s also iCloud or TweetMarker syncing so you’re timeline progress is in-sync across the different iOS and Mac versions of Twitterrific.
Twitterrific 5 ($2.99, Universal) is an outstanding Twitter client for iOS that is a great alternative to the official Twitter app that focuses on outstanding design, and ease of use, and absolutely nails it. Twitterrific 5 is a must buy, though it is a brand new version, and not just an update to the existing version of Twitterrific.
