Little balls are rolling down the conveyor belt, and your goal is to help them along their route in the new iOS game Perchang. You will activate flippers, fans, magnets, portals, and more to guide the tiny balls onwards. There are 60 levels included, and more and more mechanics are introduced as you go. Even though new complexities are added, everything is controlled with just a blue and red button. The gizmos are color coded, and you can tap on any item to change the color to be controlled by a specific button.

Perchang offers a deluxe 3D design to ornately depict the various contraptions. It’s great to see the mechanisms in motion, especially when you figure out the solution. Each of the 60 puzzles offers an action solution that comes down to the timing of activating the flipper, using the fan, turning on the magnet, and more. Every level has a time limit, and a goal number of balls to land in the bin at the end. The first few levels are overtly easy, but it becomes nice and challenging to get the later mechanisms down.

The game emphasizes action puzzles that require skill as well as thought, and this particular set-up can be a bit frustrating. There are a few levels that have some tedious requirements of activating fans or magnets for just the right amount of time. Also, you can figure out a solution, and then be a bit bored to land as many tiny balls as required with the same repetition after you already figured it out. These are minor issues, but still present that distraction from the overall experience. Some levels stand out for great mechanics that are a joy, but its the odd ones out that are a hassle and break up the level flow and enjoyment.

Perchang ($1.99, Universal) is a well produced puzzle challenge that is well worth picking up.
