CES 2015: LifeProof, Mophie, Incipio, And Otterbox Unveil New iPhone 6 Battery Cases

At any recent CES, iPhone cases are plentiful, and that’s no different in 2015. There’s nearly an entire wing dedicated to iPhone cases, and for 2015 it’s all about new cases for the iPhone 6/Plus. Battery back-up cases are probably the most popular type of case, with protective cases coming in at a close second. Here are the stand out iPhone 6 battery cases of CES 2015.

LifeProof has made a name for itself with protective cases that can help your iPhone withstand almost anything you throw at it. This year, they unveiled their first battery based LifeProof case, known as the fre Power. The fre Power includes a 2,600 mAh battery to double the iPhone 6 battery life. The extra battery is in addition to making your iPhone 6 waterproof up to 6.6 feet for one hour, drop proof up to 6.6 feet, and sealed against dust and snow. No specifics on pricing or launch date were provided.

Mophie is the name in battery back-up cases, and for 2015 they announced the Juice Pack Air and Juice Pack Plus for the iPhone 6, as well as the Juice Pack for the iPhone 6 Plus. The Juice Pack Air offers 100% extra battery for the iPhone 6, while the Juice Pack Plus provides 120% extra battery. The Juice Pack for the iPhone 6 Plus gives 60% extra battery life. All of the versions include thinner designs, with more advanced protection than previous iPhone battery back-up cases. All of the new Mophie cases are available to pre-order today, and expect to ship in 3-4 weeks. The iPhone 6 Juice Pack Air, and iPhone 6 Plus Juice Pack are $99.95, while the iPhone 6 Juice Pack Plus is $119.95.

Incipio announced four new additions to their offGRID series of battery back-up cases, though all are for the iPhone 6, with no choices for the 6 Plus at this time. All four come with a 3,000 mAh battery with the offGrid Express being the thinnest one for the greatest portability. The classic offGrid offers double the defense with a hard shell body and comes in multiple colors. The OffGrid Shine is even sturdier with end to end protection. Finally, the OffGrid Exo is the most rugged of the bunch to absorb shock from the worst of drops, and features a rugged pattern for enhanced grip. The Express is $79.99, and the only one available today. The offGrid original is $89.99, the Shine is $99.99, and the Exo is $109.99 with all of them coming in the first quarter of 2015.

Otterbox was also on hand at CES 2015 with their new Resurgence Power Case made for the iPhone 6. It bumps up last year’s 2,000 mAh battery to 2,600 mAh within the same style polycarbonate design. It’s a two-piece snap design to simplify case assembly and removal. If you’re looking for a battery back-up case in 2015, there are a lot of choices out there depending on your price range, and desire for varying levels of device protection.
